A journey that started for the love of Sri Lankan music.
CeyMusic was born from both a passion for music and a frustration from the lack of fairness and protection. We saw talented Sri Lankan artists like the renowned Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe, composing incredible works but struggling to earn a fair return. Spurred on by this reality, CeyMusic was founded to empower musicians and ensure they earn their fair share for their creations.
Our team is made up of music enthusiasts with an understanding of the industry's inner workings, including legalities, contracts, and the power of digital distributionm, allowing us to pursue our mission to create a sustainable future for Sri Lankan music. Why are we based in Canberra, Australia?
Our research showed us that the Australian Copyright Act has far better enforcement and efficacy (compared to the Sri Lankan counterpart). In order to give our members this benefit, we established CeyMusic in Australia in 2019.
